THOMAS McCARTY (Director of Photography)

 

Shortly after graduating from Biola University with a major in Cinema and Television Thomas began working on features and commercials, lensing his first feature "Flying Changes" which played in festivals around the Los Angeles area and distributed in Foreign Countries.

 

Since then Thomas has worked as a Set Lighting Technician or Camera Operator on hundreds of projects. His on set experience ranges from features (Hitchcock, Bad Words, Much Ado About Nothing) to award winning television shows (Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Revenge, The Wedding Band, iCarly) to music videos (Rihanna, Philip Bardowell, Toby Keith) to commercials (Target, Disney Resorts, T-Mobile, BMW).

 

Thomas has had the opportunity to work along side several award winning DP's such as Jeff Cronenweth, Guillermo Navarro and Paul Cameron; he has enjoyed learning from the masters.

 

When Thomas is not on set working, he is shooting spec commercials, music videos and features. He just wrapped shooting several commercials for director Joel Kenyon, promo spots for director Jeremy Casper, and Hamlet's Ghost directed by Vacant House producer Walker Haynes.

 

Thomas McCarty is an active dual cardholder in good standing with IATSE 504 (Orange County Stagehands) IATSE 728 (Set Lighting Technicians) and is eligible for IATSE 600 as a camera Operator in the ICG.
